Doulas are only for….

I am not sure why there seem to be so many misconceptions that doulas are only for one type of birth. The reason that I started Beautifully Made Doula Service was to support all types of women in all types of births. The reason that I made the decision to move from working in a Labor and Delivery was to empower women in their choices, not to take them away from them by only providing support for one type of birth experience, I want to be by your side cheering you on and helping you through your labor and the birth of your child whether that is in a birth tub in your living room or in an operating room for a planned cesarean, who am I to judge how you bring your precious baby into this world? Every woman and every birth is different and they are all beautiful that is the beauty in what I do and why I made the decision to become a doula. So please do not be swayed by the all too common belief that doulas are only of use if you are having an unmedicated home birth.

As a mother the first things that you do for your baby is to make the best decision for both of you to bring them into your arms in the way that is safest for you and that you are the most comfortable. The only goal that I have is to see women that are empowered by there birth experience and that they all see the beauty in the amazing journey that they just went through.

Something else that I seem to come across all too regularly are people saying that if you have a partner beside you that you have no use for a doula. I in no way set out to take the power away from your loved ones, I want to provide them with the support that they need to support you in the best way possible so that they can look back with fond memories of such a monumental event also.
